Helpful Parent Information
Attendance-It is so important for your child to be here at school. The second grade curriculum is very rigorous and in order for your child to obtain the maximum benefits please make sure they are here. Our hours are from 8:45 until 3:30.
Please send in a note from home if your child had an absence, is getting picked up or leaving school during the day. Also if your child is going on vacation other than our district approved ones, you need to fill out a form in the office for it to be approved by Mr. Lavery.
Water Bottles- Water fountains are on and we have a water dispenser. Please send in an insulated water bottle and not twist off cap plastic water bottles if at all possible.
Clothing-Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately during the school year. On gym days, make sure they are wearing tennis shoes and comfortable clothing. Socks have to be worn even with sandals. Please put your child's name on their clothing that way we can return any lost items. Masks must be worn in school.
Homework- Each child will have a Reading & Math Fact Log, they will be required to read for 15 minutes a night and practice math flash cards for at least 5 minutes nightly. You can purchase flash cards at the Dollar Store or they have free printable ones on line. Also Bridges Math homework will be 2 to 3 times a week and they are always 2 sided. On occasion they will have language arts homework too, They will be marked with the letters HW, on the top of the papers. I would like the home work turned in the next day after it was assigned.
Take Home Folder-Please check your child's folder each night. It is a direct line from my classroom to your home. Included will be homework assignments and other important school information. Please review the contents and remove any papers that need to remain at home. Your child will need to take the responsibility to place notes from home in the orange note basket.
